Meet the Reviewers

Tom Heerman has been seeking new music and old music his whole life. He thinks his first 45 RPM was For What It’s Worth by Buffalo Springfield. He has had many phases of music appreciation, roughly in this order: AM Radio, BeeGees, Beatles, Billy Joel, Bluegrass, Hartford, Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Dylan, Prine, Elvis Costello, Stones, Nick Lowe, Clash, Ferry, Replacements, Nirvana, Dwight Yoakam, George Jones, Neil, Neil, Neil, Wilco, Black Keys, Jack White.

He thinks there is a huge amount of great new music being made, contrary to what most old people say. The tricky part is that it’s hard to choose… too many options and apps and versions and devices. So he’s back to vinyl and cassette on the vintage stereo. Everything is once again right where he needs it. Here is his top 100 records of all-time!

Chris McJaggerly loves rock songs that start with a catchy guitar riff. The older he gets, the more he likes Duke Ellington and David Bowie. He doesn’t understand why anyone likes Jay Farrar’s voice. McJaggerly tries to teach himself how to play guitar every five years or so, but it never takes. If he writes record reviews like a lawyer, that’s because he is a lawyer. Chris is one of his real names, but McJaggerly isn’t.

She is a director of something for a public entity, and she has 4 or 5 dogs. She lives in NorCal, and enjoys an occasional this or that. She loves music of both kinds. Please say hello to Mandy.
connorConnor Johnzon is in his 20s, so you might expect him to be slanted towards more modern rock bands, but he began devouring the rock canon at a young age. He loves all eras, and often prefers live records to studio. He does stand up, likes beer, plays some guitar, has been to the middle east, and has 4 siblings.

decker b&wKev’n Dekker had moved to a new home when his son met the boy next door.
“Hi, my name is Billy,” they boy said. “What’s yours?”
“Tommy,” replied Kev’n’s son.
“My daddy’s an accountant,” said Billy. “What does your daddy do?”
“He’s a lawyer,” Tommy answered.
“Honest?” says Billy.
“No, just the regular kind.”
